 Dan Ryan's grandfather was a home builder in the Pittsburgh area. Brothers Ed, Bill, and Jim Ryan developed a philosophy of creating value for everyone in the home building chain. A motto of the brothers was "to do the most amount of good for the most amount of people, including customers, employees, and shareholders." In 1950 Ryan Homes is founded.

    Jim Ryan, Dan Ryan's father, partners with Jim Rouse to develop the firs socially conscious development  in Columbia Maryland. Ryland Homes is started (CalAtlantic).

    Dan Ryan, a graduate of JMU, joins his uncle's business, Ryan Homes in a variety of operational and field positions.

    In the midst of housing market recession, Dan Ryan launches Dan Ryan Builders in Mount Airy, MD. Purchasing his first homesite in Lake Linganore, MD.

    Dan Ryan Builders makes its first sale in Mt. Airy, MD.

2004

Dan's father, Jim Ryan (of Ryan Homes and founder of Ryland Homes) started the "Ryan Family Charitable Foundation, Inc." in 1977 with Dan's mother, Eleanor Ryan. Dan Ryan Builders contributed and become responsible to this charity since conception and in 2004, the charity was renamed to "Dan Ryan Builders Charitable Foundation."

Dan serves of charity's boards, volunteers, speaks and promotes with PR, and mentors charity leaders. His commitment to public service is a way of life. Dan Ryan Builders Charitable Foundation supports Interfaith Housing Alliance, Inc., Frederick Rescue Mission, Extreme Makeover Home Edition, Morgantown Volunteer School Event and local charities and non-profits.

    Dan Ryan Builders teamed up with Homes for Our Troops in building a specialty adapted home for Sgt. Kevin Jaye, who was critically injured in June of 2012 by a pressure-plate IED blast in Afghanistan. A groundbreaking ceremony was held on Saturday, August 22, 2015 with over 300+ people attending. Dan Ryan Builders is proud to be the building partner for this worthwhile cause which enables injured Veterans to live independently again. For more about Sgt.
